Privacy Policy

The short version

Children can use PromptPals without an account and without giving us anything at all. We never collect a child's real name, email address, photo, home address, phone number, birth date or school. There are no advertising networks and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts anywhere in this product.

What a child gives us

A hero name, which is a nickname they choose, and an age, which decides which mode they see. That is all. We ask children not to use their real name, and the app never requires one.

Anonymous play

Playing without signing up collects nothing and stores nothing on our servers. Progress is kept in your own browser and never leaves the device. No consent is required because no personal information is collected.

When a teacher creates a class

We store the teacher's name, email, school and class name, and a six-character class code. Students join with that code and a hero name. A teacher never sees a student's personal information through PromptPals, because we never have it. The dashboard shows hero names, progress and badges only.

When a parent creates an account

We store the parent's email address and up to four child profiles consisting of a hero name and an age. The parent owns that data and can export or delete it at any time by writing to us. Under COPPA, a parent or school provides consent before any data about a child under 13 is collected; anonymous play needs none because nothing is collected.

AI conversations

The two older modes can talk to an AI model. Before anything is sent, the app blocks messages that look like they contain personal information. Conversations are stored without identifying details and deleted automatically after 30 days by a scheduled job, not by request. Conversations are never used to train any model.

The youngest mode, for ages 5 to 7, does not talk to an AI model at all. Every question it asks is written in advance by a person.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or share children's data. There is nothing to sell.
• We do not run advertising.
• We do not use third-party analytics, trackers or advertising pixels.
• We do not ask children for photos, voice recordings or location.
• We do not use conversations to train models.

Deleting your data

Email us and we will delete everything connected to your account or your class. Anonymous play has nothing to delete — clearing your browser removes it.
